About Us
Mind Over Chatter is a youth-led mental health literacy project that uses pop culture as a bridge into psychology. We take the films and shows people already watch, quote, and debate to teach teens how emotions work, how stigma forms, and how to talk about mental health with more accuracy and less shame. Our core belief is simple: if pop culture can shape how teens understand mental health, then it can also be used to improve that understanding.

Mission Statement
Mind Over Chatter exists to make mental health literacy practical and culturally fluent for teens. We use pop culture as a bridge into psychology, connecting the stories people already watch, quote, and debate to real concepts like stress, identity, and emotional regulation. Our goal is to replace stereotypes and vague “positivity” with usable language and skills. Through a pop culture lens, we believe teens will find it easier to name what they’re feeling and talk about it with their peers. We’re equipping youth with critical thinking skills that recognize harmful narratives in what they watch and respond in ways that are supportive and informed.
Our Core Values
- Accuracy over assumptions. We don’t treat mental health like a “personality type.”
- Curiosity over judgment. We ask better questions before we label.
- Culture matters. Identity, community, and environment shape mental health.
- Practicality matters. Resources should be usable on a hard day, not just inspiring on a good one.
- Respect and safety. Education is not therapy. We point people to professional help when needed.
Important Note
Mind Over Chatter is an educational project. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or therapy. If you or someone you know needs urgent help, contact a trusted crisis resource in your area.
